Tinhela610

A river valley in Trás-os-Montes, 610 metres up. Seven wood cabins, a Finnish sauna, cold water from the source. No reason to look at your phone.

Seven wood cabins sit above old stone walls in a river valley in Trás-os-Montes, 610 metres above sea level. The name is the altitude. The altitude is what keeps it quiet.

The property was built around two renovated stone mills. The Tinhela river runs through it — carving small waterfalls between rocks, widening into a natural 25-metre pool downstream. Most mornings, that’s where you swim. There’s also a Japanese bathhouse and a Finnish wood-burning sauna, both fed by water from the property’s own source.

The cabins are minimal: custom beds with natural mattresses, Portuguese linen, blackout curtains, a small writing niche. No television. No reason to look at your phone.

Meals come from the permaculture garden when it allows — eggs from the chickens, vegetables from the land. What they can’t grow, they source locally. The food follows Blue Zone principles loosely: mostly plants, eaten slowly, stopped before you’re full.

There’s yoga on an outdoor platform, meditation by the water, early hikes into the hills. No children under 16, no pets, no pretence that any of this is ordinary.
