Absent Café

Phone-free café and creative space in Príncipe Real. Phone goes in a pouch at the door. Coffee, wine, craft supplies, books. You decide what to do with the time.

Absent opened in early 2026 on Rua da Glória in Príncipe Real. The premise is simple: a space where you’re not supposed to be on your phone. At the door, your phone goes into a secure pouch. It stays with you, you can unlock it anytime and step outside, but inside the expectation is clear.

What you do with the time is up to you. The space has art and craft supplies, books worth reading, board games, quiet corners. People come to draw, journal, work on creative projects, read, talk, or do nothing in particular. There’s no pressure to be productive about it. The design, lighting, colour, texture, is chosen to make presence easier rather than something you have to try at.

The coffee is from Olisipo Roasters, there are wines from across Portugal, craft beers from Dois Corvos, and a rotating food menu from local chefs alongside baked goods from artisanal bakeries.

They host weekly events: game nights (the most popular by far), creative resets, offline coworking sessions and other social hangouts. Good place to meet like-minded people in a very calming environment.
